Share This- [Phoronix] Ubuntu 9.04 Beta vs. Fedora 11 Beta Performance
Apr 10, 2:23am (1 review) linux, article http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=ar...- Last week marked the release of the Ubuntu 9.04 Beta and this week there is the planned release of the Fedora 11 Beta. Both distributions are similar in the respect they will be upgrading several common packages like GNOME 2.26, but in Fedora 11 are more upstream (and experimental) bits like kernel mode-setting, the EXT4 file-system by default, and various other features. Being the Linux benchmarking fanatics that we are, we set out to run a few performance tests comparing the Ubuntu 9.04 Beta to the latest Rawhide packages that will make up today's Fedora 11 Beta release.

Share This- First Look: Parsix 2.0r0 - A Persian GNOME - Softpedia
Mar 29, 6:27pm (1 review) linux, distro, parsix http://news.softpedia.com/news/First-Loo...- The Live environment was responsive and functional; nothing special really so I started the install on hard drive process, which is a customized wizard that allows users to save a modified setup configuration for later use (cool!). Though the partitioner (GParted) had support for the EXT4 filesystem, I was quite disappointed to see that Parsix was only able to install on EXT3, ReiserFS or JFS partitions, so my previously formatted EXT4 one was reformatted to EXT3 before the installation started. But given the fact that EXT4 is still a new technology, it's somehow understandable that the developers chose to postpone the support for it. The installation didn't take too long, and in less than 10 minutes I was ready to reboot into the newly installed operating system.

Feb 10, 2:30am (2 reviews) tv http://iribsima.com/- Iransima is a non-profit company whose current mission is to broadcast IRIB channels on the internet. It also keeps a two month archive of programs and let people watch them. It's number of daily users is expected to exceed 20,0000 a day and growing. As their website, iransima.ir, is not user-friendly and they do not seem to be interested in improving it, at least in the short future, I have decided to build this website to let people watch iransima's media more easily. The current version of website supports Query Cloud, Calendar, Search, Search for URL, Live Schedule, Comments, Weblogs, and Popular programs whose description follows.
