Moral relativism has nothing to do with it. Relativism means all points of view are valid. NOT POSSIBLE. Besides you can't win with circumstantial arguments. Typing may lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but I won't believe you til you at least show me your hands at a keyboard. So you can talk about moral lapses all day, the fact is you haven't connected Argument A to Conclusion B.
Don't make me bring out John Yoo, Dyncorp, TYC. There's your rightie pedos right there.
This is a free speech issue and a law enforcement issue. The site should be allowed up in the absence of a properly structured argument. Read below for what I think might be a very good one.
If you righties want to know how to bring this practice to a halt and shut down NAMBLA as well listen up. But you have to put that knee jerk attitude and your values disguised as principles aside. Your values are useful shortcuts for principles many people never let go of their ego enough to learn. If you had some principles you would find a practically fool proof solution.
NO AMOUNT OF YAMMERRING ABOUT HOW SOME PET PEEVE DISGUISED AS MORALITY WILL GET THE JOB DONE.
Preliminary Notions
1. This is not about boldness. Pedos are not out to piss you off nor insult you. They are simply sick. This is not about you and your religiously (immorally) inflated egos. It's about a danger to children. You can talk about punishments til you're blue in the face but without a solid legal argument you have nothing. Your ranting may feel good. But you're kids are still going to be in danger.
2. Punishments don't make people good. It takes a series of them for a thief or liar to realize there are other people in the world and they count too. All you get is scared criminals who are more dangerous.
3. Deterrents are fine. More power to you if you can come up with decent ones. But don't expect a change in morality because of a deterrent. Actions may speak louder than words, but hidden thoughts breed monsters you would die for every word on their lips.
Ok now the plan
1. Pedophilia is wrong because the vulnerable children are prey to the world wise older perp.
2. Consensual hugging involves emotions, associations, and connotations the child may not understand, and even if the older early teens do understand, they cannot properly consent nor resist someone who is much older.
3. Consensual hugging constitutes a statutory assault lacking a proper statute, though in this case it would be emotional assault. Someone who hugs a child and has an erotic experience has formed a bond they may not be able to control, but even if they can, it is a bond that the child is not aware of, and a bond the child will not know how to repel.
4. The hug may be consensual. The perp has a right to his thoughts/erotic experience since NOBODY controls their impulses only their ACTIONS. But the experience is not part of what the child consented to nor could a child CONCEIVABLY know how to consent to what is a powerful drive.
5. The perp cannot be prosecuted for being sick. The perp can be prosecuted for the crime of engaging a child in a situation the child cannot comprehend.
GET STATUTORY ASSAULT ON THE BOOKS AND THIS CRAP WILL GO AWAY.
