I first saw these urban homesteaders in a video of a news coverage on YouTube. Who says self-sufficiency is impossible if you live in the city? They've taken a very small space, and not only does this family grow their own food--year round!--but they have animals, they are "frugal shoppers", and use "old-fashioned" appliances and tools. In the YouTube video the daughter is seen using a hand crank blender. A path to freedom, indeed!
