"Waiting is difficult-it makes me think too much. I thought about the so-called "Wilderness Bill" which had just released over two million acres of Oregon's roadless areas to the timber industry.

I thought about the threat now posed to the great old-growth forest that still flourishes above Silver and Indigo creeks. I thought about the senseless greed and destructiveness of today's world. Nearly half of all the forests on earth have been cut down since 1950."
