Watch this video clip of Clinton speaking back in October of 2004. It resurfaced on YouTube following the `Phone Ringing' television ad that emerged from the Hillary camp last week, said by critics to be playing on voters fears.

I subscribe to hundreds of blog RSS feeds and my Google Reader is often inundated with posts. Because of this, I sometimes end up resorting to quick skims of headlines and bold words as I bounce from one post to the next most recent post. With the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) Ideas Worth Spreading conference currently going on in Monterey, I've been spending most of my Reader time on posts liveblogged from the event. (Unfortunately, I'm not a member, have not been invited to attend and don't have the $6,000 it takes to even apply for a ticket. Fortunately, a lot of the blogs I subscribe to are written by people who have been invited.)

From the page: "Hillary has been receiving a lot of flak for her â€Phone Ringing†television ad that premiered last week in Texas. It was produced by Texan Roy Spence who is the brain behind a similar ad used by Walter Mondale to win the Democratic nomination 24 years ago. Obama has responded with his own ad. Iâ€m unsure as to whether or not this ad is or will be running in Texas prior to the primary, but it has received over 150,000 views on YouTube since being posted on Friday. View both ads below:"

  • Chicago Is More Than Just Downtown & Nicholas B. Jackson

Chicago is a city of neighborhoods. That's what sets this city apart from all the rest: 77 neighborhoods, each with a distinct feel, a distinct style. And while Evanston does have a distinct feel - white, lackluster, pretentious and overpriced - as well as a distinct style - crass consumerism and whatever the latest trends are - Evanston doesn't make the cut. It's officially the first suburb to the north. And gets treated as such.

NICHOLAS JACKSON: I read a press release that mentioned your band living in tiny cramped quarters plastered with show flyers and guitar strings. It said the six of you share van space, food, clothes, etc. `more readily than most people share oxygen.' I understand this is a nice picture to paint for an audience that likes to read about that kind of thing but I'm interested to hear your own perspective on the dynamics of the band -- on a more personal level. Do tell.

The economy is crumbling. People are worried about a recession. The housing market is dead. And, with the arrogance that Chicago has often been known for, @properties, a real estate firm, opened the main sales office for the planned Chicago Spire last month, hoping to sell an unprecedented amount of luxury real estate.

Back in November, The Daily Telegraph released their comprehensive list of the 100 most influential liberals and 100 most influential conservatives in America. The list generated a lot of response-both positive and negative. (The Governator in the top 20 list for liberals? At least Michael Barone, a columnist for U.S. News & World Report-and the 87th most influential conservative according to the list-acknowledged that legitimate arguments were made for what he would consider "eccentric" choices) While you may disagree with the rankings, I thought it would be interesting to see what each of the top 10 had to say about our current candidates.

People don't talk about it as often as the latino vote or the female vote, but it is widely believed that Clinton has been holding onto the majority of the gay vote since the beginning. With her numbers slipping in the polls and Obama's 11 straight victories, his campaign is now focusing on that demographic which may put him on top of his opponent for the March 4th primaries: the gays.

The New Republic has posted a primer to the Texas primary-caucus hybrid-the electoral equivalent, they say, to a turducken-that they are calling `Everything You Need To Know About Texas's (Ludicrous, Convoluted, and Downright Screwy) Tuesday Primary.'

According to an article in Harper's by Ken Silverstein published this morning, $950,000 of the $950,100 contributed to the John and Cindy McCain Foundation between 2001 and 2006, or 99.99%, came from John McCain himself.
