From the page "I'm thinking ... we've heard this phrase again and again in its many variants, `Africa Must Unite', `Africans Unite', `African Solutions for African Problems', `My African Sister', `My African Brother' ..... oooooo I beg! I am tired of it all.

I am tired of it all because Africans only remember to unite when tackling a problem, who's source is seen to be from outside the continent. I am angry for you my African brother when the police have man-handled you, I sympathise with you my African sister when you are among the first one to be laid off at that American company, we are a proud African continent when the `Son of Our Soil' becomes president of America. Let's cheer on our African people at the Olympics and World Cup.

Oyotunji African Village is a village located near Sheldon, Beaufort County, South Carolina that was founded by the late Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi I in 1970, as part of a "New World Yoruba" initiative.

It covers 27 miles, and the population is rumoured to fluctuate between 5-9 families as of the last 10 years. It is promoted as an authentic Yoruba village and as a successful example of Pan-Africanism in the New World,

African grandmothers who take care of their grandchildren because the parents have died of AIDS. For example, "Harriet -- one of millions of Go Go's in Sub-Saharan Africa. Harriet is a grandmother in her early 70s. She is taking care of 16 children who have no parents. Only one of Harriet's own children is still alive. The rest have died."

In the Central African Republic, UNICEF, with funding from the European Commission, is supporting bush schools to provide education and a sense of normalcy to displaced children.

A symbol of inspiration for people all over the world and an outstanding military leader of Angolan origin who engaged in a forty year war against the savage, slave-hunting Europeans, was Queen Ann Nzingha (1582-1663).

Queen Nzingha was in charge of sections in Angola and Zaire, and her mission was to utterly and completely destroy the African slave trade. She was a proud member of a tribal combat unit (Jagas) that formed a human shield against the Portuguese slave traders, and she became known as the "greatest military strategist that ever confronted the armed forces of Portugal." Her military campaigns kept the Portuguese in Africa from gaining a strong foothold.

Queen Nzingha was very loyal to the resistance movement and made good use of her feminine charm or masculine drive depending on the circumstances, also utilizing religion as a political ploy to gain the upper hand.

Queen Nzingha sent envoys throughout West and Central Africa in an effort to recruit a massive combined force of African armies to help drive out the Portuguese, and also developed affiliations with other foreign authorities before setting them against each other as rivals, in a further attempt to rid Angola of this European scourge.

Nzingha's efforts helped to motivate others to join the fight against the invaders, which included people like Madame Tinubu of Nigeria; Nandi, the mother of Chaka - the great Zulu warrior; Kaipkire of the Herero people of South West Africa; as well as the female army which supported Behanzin Bowelle, the Dahomian King.
