The set was probably issued by Tuttell as a trade catalogue, a clever and entertaining way of broadcasting the high quality of his workmanship and the breadth of his scientific knowledge. Each card in the deck depicts a tradesman at work (millwright, bricklayer, "carpentor," architect, miner, etc.) or a particular instrument or tool, such as the "tryangular quadrant," charts, scales, and the "cross-staffe."

An art project about the impact and the rise of digital technology on different cultures today.
The project was initiated in 2010 when digital media artist Jeroen van Loon started his research by traveling to areas representing the extreme opposites of our possibility to access to internet. Varying from a village in West Papua, where nobody had heard of the concept internet to the bustling metropolis of Singapore, where internet controls society. Here and everything in between he interviewed people he met on his travels.
He asked each person to hand write a letter describing the influence of access to internet on his or her daily life. By looking at our digital world through the traditional technique of handwritten letters, we discover original and personal stories which portray our global digitalization.

Unlike many of his countrymen who adopted an avant-garde stance in the 1960s, from around that time Skoryk largely relied on Carpatho-Ukrainian folklore in his works, firstly attracting attention with the Hutsul Triptych derived from his score for Sergey Paradzhanov's film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors. In subsequent orchestral works (First Violin Concerto and Cello Concerto) he developed a style in which a work is built from short melismas derived from the synthesis of idiomatic folk rhythms and melodic formulae which often succeed in asymmetrical phrases expanding by means of troping. In the 1990s he began to utilize various elements of popular music, earlier found in the Fifth Partita for piano in modo retro (1975). Skoryk's works have been performed across Europe and the USA.

Fete galante is a French term referring to some of the celebrated pursuits of the idle, rich aristocrats in the 18th century - from 1715 until the 1770s. After the death of Louis XIV in 1715, the aristocrats of the French court abandoned the grandeur of Versailles for the more intimate townhouses of Paris where, elegantly attired, they could play and flirt and put on scenes from the Italian commedia dell'arte. The term translates from French literally as "gallant party". It is closely related to, and may be considered a type of, fete champetre.
