Good description, but as I've said before very difficult to explain without pictures or video. Truing wheelsets (or building wheelsets) comes from lots 'o experience. I wouldn't recommend this for a novice. the biggest mistake that I see from DIY'ers is that they're too concerned about the side to side truing and not concerned with the wheel getting out of round. Even spoke tension can lead to a "stronger" wheelset, but there are no guarantees...
