It turns out there was massive controversy between Kanye and the crowd before the taping and the crowd was hell bent on causing a riot as they yelled.. screamed and cursed out the "legend". All of the booing gets covered up by NBC/SNL live editing as they mix the audio with the original soundtrack that would normally play in the background so the millions of television viewers would never know what was happening. Here is the real RAW footage from the control room of the actual crowd response to his singing or lack thereof. You can clearly see Kanye's confusion as the control room crew mixes out the live audience mic recording and pumps in the pre-recorded track as they try to instruct him through the ear piece to just keep singing. Who says MB doesn't love ya?
