I lived at the top of a "T" intersection. The house had only one former owner - an older couple who apparently loved roses and worked at a telephone company (evidenced by the coils and coils of colorful wire we found in the garage). Cranky widower, Mr. Carlin, lived next door, and we made sure not to step on his manicured lawn for fear of his grouchy scolding. The house on the other side saw several different occupants over the years... it was a strange house with uncomfortable energy around it, and everyone who lived there seemed oddly well-matched for it.
Across the street lived the family with 5 children, which was not common and seemed like a traveling circus in a station wagon to me.
A few doors down was my dear aunt, who used to make slushies out of crushed popsicles for me in a kool-aid man cup after school. I idolized my older cousin, Rhonda, who used to listen to this song over and over... and her brother who had every G.I. Joe accessory available at the time. Even though I didn't like "boy" toys, I loved all the miniature pieces that went with his action figures.
