 | Online nowLisa is a 50 year old woman in a relationship from Outside of A Tinytidytown, NSW, Australia. Not particularly a chicken lover, as could be perceived from my avatar, just the most recent photo of me at hand. Had to raise these chicks under light as a local diamond python ate their mother. These chicks have all grown up and gone now. I also have 6 children, three my own progeny and 3 step children, 4 of whom are still at home. Nice to be part of a large family, always have company, and they are all interesting people in their own ways. |

From the page: "Shell is due to stand trial in New York for human rights abuses including the company's alleged role in the 1995 execution of Nigerian writer and activist Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight of his Ogoni colleagues. Before he was hanged, Saro-Wiwa predicted that one day Shell would be held accountable for "the crimes of ecological war the company has waged in the [Niger] Delta". The case in New York â€" brought under the US alien tort statute â€" offers an opportunity for individuals who were tortured and family members of those who were killed in Nigeria to make formal allegations against Shell in a court of law."

"The phrase between Scylla and Charybdis, although infrequently used
today, has meant having to choose between two unattractive choices,
and is the progenitor of the phrase "between a rock and a hard place."

James Gillray, Britannia
between Scylla and Charybdis (1793)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley used Scylla
and Charybdis in an analogy of how society is poised
between anarchy and despotism in his work, in defence
of poetry. The passage reads:
'The rich have become richer, and the poor have
become poorer; and the vessel of the state is driven
between the Scylla and Charybdis of anarchy and
despotism'"
