The weather bureau says the biggest flood since 1974 will arrive in Brisbane in the next two days. (Source: ABC NEWS 11/01/11).
The State of Queensland has been declared a national state of emergency with 8 people dying (4 children) and many people yet to be rescued from on top of their houses and cars, clinging to trees, fences, anything to stop being swept away. 200,000 homes have been affected, and this tally is likely to rise.

Also if you go to twitter, and go to the hashtag #qldflood you will get an idea of the magnitude of these floods.
New South Wales and Victoria are also under flood warnings for the rest of this week. I live in Victoria, the horrendous fires of Black Saturday came very near to us two years ago. They burned for a month. The stress such disasters places on everyone is overwhelming. Please keep the people of Queensland in your thoughts and prayers, especially over the next few days.
When this tragedy is over, the people of Queensland will need help to re-build their homes, towns, roads, businesses and farms, so if you can spare a few dollars or more, you can donate here. The Salvation Army Disaster Fund bit.ly/hRG9RB [bit.ly] or The Queensland Premier's Flood Relief Appeal bit.ly/hfqMaY [bit.ly] . Every little bit helps, and will be gratefully received.
I would be so very grateful and appreciative if you could share this information with your family and friends too.
Thank You.
