From the page: "Waterman, whose team is working with Mexican officials, said the scientists are trying to determine the mortality rate of the virus, and don't yet know where it started or why. But he and other experts said it appeared the outbreak could have been far more deadly, particularly in the teeming streets of Mexico's capital.

"The virus has been circulating for over a month in a city of 20 million of high population density. It could have been much worse," said CDC epidemiologist Marc-Alain Widdowson.

Waterman agreed that the virus does not appear to match the ferocity of past killers. "Most people think it is unlikely this is going to be as virulent as the 1918 epidemic. From what we know so far, it doesn't seem like it is as virulent," he said."

From the page: "Although poll respondents said that the regularity of jovial white strangers greeting them in elevators has risen approximately 450 percent since mid-January, the incidents are reportedly nowhere near as frequent as they were on Nov. 4, 2008. On that day, the country was temporarily seized by an epidemic of unsolicited white-on-black hugging.

In an attempt to return the nation's interracial interactions to their preinauguration level of stilted awkwardness, the NAACP and the ACLU released a joint statement Monday addressing the issue. In the four-page address, the activist groups call for normalcy and urge the nation's whites to immediately desist creeping everybody out with all the nodding and warmth and raised eyebrows. "

Had to laugh at this. Is this is a joke?

Affordable Web Hosting at Lunarpages

Terrible for my blog. Maybe they do alright for simple HTML hosting, but my blog is offline several times a week. I've set up an e-mail alert to keep track of it: it's that often. Usually it's just offline for a few seconds, but today it took several HOURS. And with them selling limitless bandwidth right now, I'm looking for the way out. I'd rather have bandwidth I can count on that something that's called 'limitless' but doesn't work most of the time. And no - this is not a high traffic blog. It has a decent 50-ish visitors a day right now. Not bad for 6 months old, but not so big I'd have to up my hosting.
