Support the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe
In case you don't know, 7,112 acres were recently taken by the United States government from the Crow Creek Reservation, a sovereign Nation. Because the land is not currently held in trust, on December 4, 2009, the Internal Revenue Service used that as an opportunity to claim it and auction it off as a means to settle what they assert is a delinquent $3,123,790 tax bill. Though most of the Crow Creek reservation is situated within the poorest county in the United States, the land under dispute happens to contain world-class sites for the harnessing of wind power. As the world's fossil fuels dwindle and alternative energy sources are increasingly sought after, Crow Creek lands also become increasingly more attractive to outside interests. Whoever develops the site for wind-energy stands to make a fortune. This connection is not lost on Chairman Sazue, who had put a revitalization plan into effect to create a green economy, jobs, etc., for his reservation and to lift his community out of some of the worst poverty ever seen. If this sale is allowed to go through (a court will rule on it possibly in March), the hope of a Nation will die.

Call the WH in support of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe to voice your opposition to the actions of the IRS. While you dispute the existence of a debt, let the WH know that if the US government can engage in debt relief for the struggling Nations of Africa and elsewhere, it can extend the same relief to a sovereign Indigenous Nation within its borders.
