More than 2 weeks after Cyclone Nargis, Than Shwe and friends have decided to allow its South Asian neighbors to send medical personnel and an assessment team into Burma, in order to appease the continuing international outcry.

Just enough of a concession to avoid being invaded for the mass murder they are in the process of committing. More....

Burma Campaign UK reports that, despite Than Shwe, the dictator of Burma, promised UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon that aid workers would be allowed into the country, the access to the delta region is still restricted. Lots of aid agencies in the UK refer that they have still had visas refused by the embassy, and sources in Burma report that the regime is also refusing to allow in foreign military with the helicopters and ships needed to deliver aid. Even some Burmese people trying to deliver aid were forced to move away by the police.More....

One month after the Nargis Cyclone the US, French and British ships off Burmese coast are going to sail away still loaded with relief aid, after the ruling junta refused to give them permission to help survivors of last month's devastating cyclone.

The ships were filled with tons of water and food, medicines, water purifying plants, curtains, mosquito nets and covers but, without the visas, the aid couldn't reach the survivors which, meanwhile, were forced to came back to their devastated villages by junta's riot police. Continue...

The generals have given the population a choice in the referendum which intends to ensconce military rule behind a facade of democracy: support the referendum, or go to jail. Brave people have worn "Vote No" T-shirts, and have been taken to prison.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's offices states: "Asked about reports that voters in Myanmar are being compelled to vote 'yes' in a referendum... the U.N. has no firsthand information on this, but reiterated its position that it is important for the government of Myanmar to honor its commitment to a free and fair process."
