A relentless photographic project by Verner Soler, with portrait images that take on a fascination when the relationships between them are realised and comparisons are made.

"I try to visit my family once a year, and every time I brace myself for the shock of seeing them age in yearly increments. Seeing my parents age this way, especially, has been a painful experience as it is an unmistakable reminder of their (our) mortality. This realization was the impetus for making a definitive record of them that will endure. The ensuing Typology includes over seventy relatives spanning three generations so far."

A quasicrystal, a representation of the ripple pattern of nine plane waves. The pattern occurs in nature; it can form after simultaneously dropping nine stones into a still pond, for example. OK, I don't really grasp the concept either, but the computer rendered picture (created by Harvard physicist Eric Heller) is a great end result.
