"For centuries, the battle of morality was fought between those who claimed that your life belongs to God and those who claimed that it belongs to your neighbors--between those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of ghosts in heaven and those who preached that the good is self-sacrifice for the sake of incompetents on earth. And no one came to say that your life belongs to you and that the good is to live it."

That is awesome. Why haven't I stumbled this before? Why hasn't someone made a slow motion of it?? It would be 1000 times more interesting than balloons popping or something. Oh well.

$1000 for what? "Solar" does not mean anything.

1: This is called appeal to authority.

2: Being good at one thing doesn't mean you know anything about something else. Knowing engineering, physics, biology, medicine, etc does not mean you know anything about politics, law, etc.

3: Knowing a lot of scientific information does not mean you can think for yourself. Plenty of scientists are pretty much incapable of forming their own opinions. Just as they were taught mathematics by their professors, they learned the professor's liberal politics.

Fire, electricity, microwaves, etc are not inventions. And why are things like ipods and playstations on the same list as the camera, gun, refrigerator, etc? Not much thought went into this. Too bad, it could have been good.
  • Socialism!

Have you ever heard the analogy of a frog in boiling water? Socialism will not suddenly be "enacted" - it is a slow transformation. So, yes, all of these things ARE socialistic. They do not represent full fledged socialism, but they are necessary stepping stones in the path.

The United States has been on the path to socialism (or statism, or some other form of oppressive government that denies freedoms) since it was founded. It is simply human nature.

I'm glad I already thumbed you down in the past for something - I don't remember what but I feel confident it was warranted. If you had thought for a second, you would have realized that 0.21% is a minority. Of course, I can't reasonably expect EVERYONE to realize that .21 is less than 50. On that note, I'm pretty sure it is you that is "incapable of seeing a point." Just because my analogy did not have the word 'like' or something similar, does not make it not an analogy. But of course, again, why expect someone to understand a simple analogy? Anyway, I don't want to waste my time arguing with someone that does not even know the difference between "privatized" and "nationalized."
  • Kucinich: Why Is It We Have Finite Resources for Health...

    Rated Nov 08 23 reviews commondreams.org

I appreciate that Kucinich is generally more intelligent than others on the left, but this is retarded. It might be more applicable if we did NOT spend more on health care than war - but we don't. They might be comparable if by war you mean "all defense related spending."

If you want to make an argument, make an argument. Don't just spout meaningless (and incorrect) rhetoric.

Cool idea, bad execution. There are only 2 pictures so the area in the middle not only looks fake(because it is) it is not actually representative of the time. It should have a slider or something too, so that you don't have to obstruct the picture with the cursor/time thing while looking at it.

---See? We are are only eliminating small portions of your rights to practice free speech, religion, etc. That makes it OK!!---

Just remember kids: "it's a-ok to pick on the minority of a group! If there are fewer of something, they don't count!"
