This was an excellently written piece from an anthology editor discussing why she chooses not to give critiques on rejected submissions. Her points are well-reasoned, especially the one about not having time to provide unpaid work - which is what writing a critique is. Yes, as an author, it would be awesome to get some feedback, but as a freelancer myself, I totally understand the need to make as many minutes of my day billable as possible. Thank you, Rachel. I commend your willingness to defend your own boundaries.

This is an achingly honest essay about a successful author and editor's tendency to self-sabotage herself, even in areas important to her. A beautiful and inspiring read!

I love that Rachel shares so intimately about her worst date, and even more I love that the 5 good things about it were personally revealing and uplifting. She discovered it can be fun to dress up for herself, that she has good social skills, and just going out on a date helped her feel more self-confident about dating.
