"HELPED are those who find something in Creation to admire each and every hour. STICKY ANNOUNCEMENT - From the page: "You've found the musings of a curmudgeonly observer of the political process and its resultant theater. I love irony and that you can't discuss politics long before you're in over your waders in burlesque."

I invite you to stop by and read my political blog. If you believe an entry deserves a comment on the page, a thumbs-up or review, that would be great

    THE SCRIBE

    What lovely things

    Thy hand hath made:

    The smooth-plumed bird

    In its emerald shade,

    The seed of the grass,

    The speck of the stone

    Which the wayfaring ant

    Stirs -- and hastes on!

    Though I should sit

By some tarn in thy hills,

    Using its ink

    As the spirit wills

    To write of Earth's wonders,

    Its live, willed things,

    Flit would the ages

    On soundless wings

    Ere unto Z

    My pen drew nigh

    Leviathan told,

    And the honey-fly:

    And still would remain

    My wit to try --

    My worn reeds broken,

    The dark tarn dry,

    All words forgotten --

    Thou, Lord, and I.

    Muse

In my youth's years, she loved me, I am sure.

The flute of seven pipes she gave in my tenure

And harked to me with smile -- without speed,

Along the ringing holes of the reed,

I got to play with my non-artful fingers

The peaceful songs of Phrygian village singers,

And the important hymns, that gods to mortals bade.

From morn till night in oaks' silent shade

    I diligently harked to the mysterious virgin;

Rewarding me, by chance, for any good decision,

And taking locks aside of the enchanting face,

She sometimes took from me the flute, such commonplace.

The reed became alive in consecrated breathing

And filled the heart with holiness unceasing.

I was looking for something else and found instead this delightful collection of women's shoes from the 1940s. Interestingly enough, there's not a single pair of them I wouldn't be glad to wear today!

  • Berlin Tattoo | Travel blog Barcelona, Berlin, Paris and...

    Rated Oct 21 1 review arts blogonlyapartments.com

I'm not a big fan of tattoos, nor do I have any myself; but I still couldn't resist this one.

From the page: If you think that getting a tattoo is a recent fashion, you are totally wrong. The tattoo art is as ancient as the human race. So much so, that even a mummy of the Neolithic period was found with 57 tattoos on his back. Surprised? Polynesia is the region which has the oldest tattoo tradition of the world and it was the first where, like today, tattoos were used as body ornamentation.

Throughout the centuries, different cultures have used tattoos in different ways: some have categorized it as art (Japan), some as a way of social stigma (ancient Greece and Rome), others as a symbol of maturity (North America) and there were some cultures that have attributed supernatural powers to them (Egypt). But today tattoos have no other function than to adorn the body. The techniques have been refined to the point of turning it into an art-form. The tattoo artists are the masters of painting that draw the more outlandish and varied designs on the skin. The whole world has given itself up to the tattoo boom.
