サIn.Circles is the visual manifest of Diana Daia, a Romanian born artist currently residing in Austria. Throughout her body of work, gender and spirituality need to be re-evaluated in the wake of major ideological destabilizations. The former becomes a battleground, a crucial component in assessing the limits of the body, while the latter is analyzed both in the light of the failure of religion to unite the fragmented, サglobal villageォ, as well as the on-going concern of post-byzantine cultures with the primacy of spirituality.
Nevertheless, Diana Daia's practice is localized, but it transcends its own context, focusing also on questions of identity and loss of it, in its national, spiritual and gender-related form. Shifting between utopia and nostalgia, the images conjure a space of negotiation and research, constantly moving in.circles.ォ
