Calvin and Hobbes is probably my favorite comic strip, largely because Calvin reminds me so much of my own son. He is off the wall, outrageous, out of control... and incredibly smart, talented, gifted, and creative. Yeah, he frequently fails to color inside the lines, but I don't care.
It has been suggested by my son's teachers that he is ADD, and it has been recommended that I take him to see a child psychologist...
...what you see above is why I have not done that...
Maybe it's because both his father and I are creative people... but I am infinitely more invested in nurturing his creativity than in making him fit into a society that is far too constricting for a mind as active as his, that is always weighing all the possibilities, searching for answers in places other kids his age would never think to look.
He is a special, wonderful kid just the way he is... just like Calvin...
I wouldn't dream of changing either one of them.
