Oh no! "Bye Bye GIMP! The next #Ubuntu version plans to remove the wonderful graphics application GIMP. I really hope they don't. I use it every day.

From the page: "The decision has been taken, and it seemed pretty final that The GIMP will not be included in Ubuntu Lucid by default."
  • Blogger outreach | Murray Newlands - Marketing Blog

Rated 12:48pm 1 review business, social networking, blogging, social media, entrepreneurship, blogs murraynewlands.com

Whether you use @problogger's phrase blogging buddies or what @murraynewlands @g_ro call Blogger outreach #bloggers benefit from acting.

From the page: "Blogger outreach research. The first place it starts is to Google your company name and blog i.e. "murraynewlands blog" and see if anyone is blogging about your company. They may well be a great place to start. The other place is your product of service area blog i.e. "affiliate blog". You may well find a list of blogger covering the niche that you are interested in reaching out to. Remember that their readers are likely to be focused on that subject and just the passionate people you want to connect with. Google likes niche blogs and so they are also likely to rank well in Google for your subject that is how you found them!"

Find anything better and faster on Twitter using @twittiptop semantic #search for better results #followfriday

"What is TipTop? Why the name feeltiptop.com?

TipTopSM is a real-time search tool helping people find interesting and useful answers to their questions, filtered from conversations people are currently sharing on Twitter. It is based on the idea that people should have a simple way to share their everyday experiences with others who are interested in learning from them without searching the entire Internet.

    # A question that is at the top of someone's mind can often be solved satisfactorily with a good set of tips shared by others. TipTopSM hopes you will discover useful and relevant tips for your tops every time you visit, and that you have fun exploring our site and sharing your results -- in short, we hope the experience leaves you feeling tip top!

How is TipTop Search different? Why can't I just use Google?

Most search engines, including Google, crawl the Web looking for any text that matches your search terms. But TipTopSM goes one step further, it figures out what is currently being said about your search terms and delivers results making it easier to find what you need. What's the difference?

    # Well, with Google, you have to deal with the misdirected, unhelpful results that happen to match the text you searched - with TipTopSM, you don't have to spend time clicking and reading through all those webpages that may or may not have an answer to your question.

    # Also, because TipTop derives results from current conversations on Twitter, it is more useful for finding out timely information on everyday issues that may not have a lot of useful hits in Google yet. TipTopSM isn't a replacement for other search engines - it is another concept entirely! TipTopSM is meant to help people connect with other people to exchange ideas and experiences, rather than only find out factual information."

"my guest: Melissa of Ruby Press - When Catherine asked me to contribute to this Guest Blogging series I was so excited because I love holiday shopping. I start thinking about what gifts I'm going to buy as early as October and even plan out the gift wrap {which I think is just as important!}.

These are a few things I think I might be buying for friends or family {or I must admit, greedily hoping to find under the tree for myself!}...in addition to all of the chic treats I'm ordering from our clients, of course!!"

  • To Search and be Social: 4 Ways to Show Your Blog Some Love

4 Ways to Show Your Blog Some Love | New from @beebow "You have to love your blog before you can expect other people to love it, too".

From the page: "Last night at the Roger Smith Hotel, an incredibly social media-savvy hot spot in New York City, I was kicking around some thoughts on blogging with some very smart and insightful people. We were discussing what makes a blog successful and what discourages it from flourishing, when all of a sudden, I spat out a corny cliché...

"You have to love your blog before you can expect other people to love it, too."

I was ready to bury my head in that one; it seemed way dramatic to me once I said it aloud. But my friends nodded their heads in agreement, and their encouragement led me to do exactly what I'm doing right now: showing this blog a little love.

Over the last two and a half years, I've fallen in love with what a blog represents: a special space where I can share relevant information and ideas with people who like the same things I do.

When I look back on my earliest blog posts, I'm mildly horrified. They're well-written, but they're clunky, strained and dull. My Bachelor's degree in English served me well- I'm a pretty talented writer. Four years at college taught me how to craft an informative, grade-A essay.

But the thing is, blogs aren't essays."

Are You Running Your Business or Blog Like a Garage Sale? Have you REALLY thought about the long term effects? | New from @g_ro Rock Star LifeStyle Design

From the page: "I've been doing way too much thinking about business models lately. Whether working in my own business, thinking about the new music economy or looking into some of my clients' businesses, their long term goals and models are what has been fascinating me the most.

What concerns me most (and I am guilty as well) is that we all think about "the right now". How can I pay my bills this week, month, quarter. Many businesses lost in this economy due to this short-sightedness. They laid off workers to make quarterly margins. They stopped advertising to hit budget. They may have even looked to social media as a new broadcast channel.

Most businesses that are starting online, the lifestyle businesses you see, and even the business models from bloggers, freelancers and small agencies all have one thing in common. They are running a garage sale. And we all know what garage sales are…"
  • Dex Landing Pages Dominating Google Local Search Ads

Rated Nov 18 1 review search, seo, local search, online yellow pages, dex semreportcard.com

Dex Landing Pages Dominating Google #Local Search #PPC Ads - Dex is buying ads for their local search properties.

From the page: "Last week Peter Krasilovsky at Local Onliner summed up data from the recent TMP/comScore study:

The report notes that Google has overtaken online business directories in both IYP/local searches, where it has a 26 percent share, and in local portal searches, where it has a 45 percent share. But that doesn't mean that the Yellow Pages industry is on the ropes.

While Yellow Pages usage is down three percent and now comprises 28 percent of local search, Internet Yellow Pages have jumped from 19 percent in 2008 to 21 percent of all searches. In certain categories, such as home services, IYP account for nearly half of all searches."
  • Review: The Rotater | Addicted2Golf.net

Rated Nov 18 1 review sports, sports medicine, sports conditioning, golf, flexibility addicted2golf.net

Even if you aren't into #golf see how to increase your flexibility, strength & condition using The Rotater from Joint Mechanix

From the page: "I don't feel old (most days), but I do turn 41 in September. Something I and other "mature" golfers struggle with is the loss of flexibility and range of motion in our joints which left unchecked will rob us of trajectory and distance. Tom Watson's amazing run thus far in the British Open is testament to the benefits of staying in shape and keeping limber. CBS showed some swing vision shots of Mr. Watson and his success isn't the result of some magical fountain of youth. He is still able to take the club past parallel on the back swing and execute a full finish on the follow through - simply amazing!

We were recently sent a product called The Rotater from Joint Mechanix which is designed to stretch and strengthen the elbow and shoulder muscles and joints. I've incorporated it into my conditioning program and warm up routine before a round. And the results have been great."
