I've never used a goto statement before. But if I ever consider it - I'll weight the benefits against these consequences.

OpenMoko has been called the anti-iPhone. The OpenMoko project is aimed at creating a free and open-source operating system and software suite for smartphones. It uses Linux as its operating system and supports both GTK+ and QT applications (though QT is not officially supported). In its public release in December (The GTA02 release) it will have a few more features including larger built-in flash memory, 802.11 WiFi support, a graphics accelerator, a 400 Mhz CPU, and a larger battery. I also think that by the GTA02 phase, it will have much longer battery life.
Unlike the iPhone, the OpenMoko phone is cheaper, does not require unlocking, and you can travel with it (I hear the iPhone is not very well suited to travel due to SIM and numerous restrictions). There are several more reasons to get one over the iPhone when they come out in December.
I can't wait to get my hands on one of these! I am a developer, but I don't know if I'd be able to do much with the current phone, so I'll wait until December to get the better, publicly available model. The GTA02 model will cost $450 for the basic model and $600 for the developer model.
But don't go out and buy an OpenMoko phone just yet. Keep in mind, it's still in a developmental stage. I would call it pre-beta (not alpha) at the moment. From what I've read, at the moment it can't even make a phone call. So, at this point in time it is not even comparable to the iPhone. However, I think it's worth the short wait to get the functionality it needs rather than buying a proprietary, closed, fixed-experience, more expensive iPhone. Plus, what's cooler than making your own applications on a cell phone?

This is a BitTorrent tracker. It is very strict in its rules. In that way, there's never a shortage of seeders and the downloads are fast. If you can track down an invite to this site, it's well worth it.
As soon as I become a power user, I'll be glad to share invites with my fellow Stumblers!
I'm becoming a power user on Monday, September 17. I have my two invites lined up already, so you'll have to wait.
