Discovery Health is available in more than 70 million homes."

Reaper is the brainchild of Kevin Smith ("Silent Bob" from the whole Clerks movie franchise). Not giving *any* spoilers here (the screener was great!), but expect some familiar themes peppered with plenty of biting wit. The premise is darkly humorous, and there's plenty of room for plot and character development. Program your TiVo now because you'll hate yourself if you miss this show!

"Agreed! Studio 60 is the best mainstream network series to hit television probably since Homocide: Life on the Street. Even if one isn't particularly fond of ensemble performances, this show has unmistakable appeal for those of us who grew up with such entertainment classics like SCTV and the earlier seasons of SNL.

"I believe Studio 60 has potential staying power in that unlike contemporary 'formula' stalwarts (medical, crime and scifi), the premise of time-crunched pressure-cooker production for the sake of truth, ethics and comedy is brilliant. For the uninitiated masses it's also a peek into a work environment that's rarely ever breached by non-SAG members. Viewers get insights as to the crazy juggling act of eggs that represent facets such as workplace politics, the creative process, censorship issues, critics of all stripes, and the Omnipotent Capitalist Buck.

"Add to this the personal and professional lives of the key characters woven into the scripts. But fold the ingredients together carefully; this mixture is prone to volatile instability. Cast members will surely either evolve or be cut. Still, even the uncertainty of character development, "real world" current events, and unfolding plotlines, leaves plenty of room for Studio 60 as a whole to perpetually re-invent itself as needed."

For those wanting more info, there's a remarkable Studio 60 wiki underway. Check it out! Of course, S60's attracted both praise and nit-pickers... Stay tuned.

From the page: "As the 200th episode of Stargate SG-1 aired, the SciFi Channel cancelled the show. Season 10 will be the last unless we as fans rally to support Stargate SG-1 and MGM, the studio producing the show. MGM are actively seeking other options for Stargate SG-1, including: an 11th season on SciFi, another network or via digital distribution on the web, TV or direct-to-DVD movies or miniseries."

I've been an avid SG-1 follower since its debut on Showtime a decade ago. Like most long-lived series, this one has had its fair share of twists, turns, and main cast changes. And yes, sometimes the plot lines did tend to drag on longer than necessary. I mean... It took forever for Anubis to finally die- and oh, what a tasty episode that was!

However, SG-1 continues to raise the proverbial bar when it comes to challenging the parameters of their viewers' social, intellectual, ethical (dare I include "spiritual"?) collective consciousness. Neither are space, time, nor our postition(s) within them permanent. This has been a hallmark of SG-1's success for it has granted the production staff great latitude in story direction and creative freedoms.

It is my sincerest hope that Stargate: SG-1 continue for as long as reasonably possible. Heaven knows it's one of the last series that remains truly "family friendly." (Thanks, Spocko, for spreading this stumble!)

Former Jeopardy! champion, Ken Jennings' rip of the gameshow that catapulted him into ersatz notariety left me chuckling and wincing simultaneously. As far as the eventuality that Mr. Trebek will need a successor, perhaps ABC/Sony should launch a reality television style contest in the vein of "Rockstar". If done correctly the program's format could be adapted to all manner of themes. This one could be "Show Host: Jeopardy!".

I can certainly vouch for these findings. This is the first time the Casa crew has had television service since our geographic relocation last November. We've been enjoying catching up on missed episodes of our favorite programs, and rely heavily on our DVR. This weekend's most noticable assault to the sensibilites of yours truly was spotting Leonard Nimoy pimping Aleve. [view] Celeb endorsements are one thing, but flashing the Vulcan hand gesture? Oh, dear Spock- say it ain't so!
