There is a channel on regular television called ION (channel 68 where I am) that has awesome cartoons for kids and adults alike. While many are tagging this as christianity, or Biblical, I do not believe that either cornered the market on wisdom or ethics.

I happened to have Veggie Tales playing in the background today and the wisdom and ethics displayed in that episode were exceptional and just what we all - and especially Americans - really need to learn (or remember if your parents taught you integrity as a child).

Remember that you teach by your ACTIONS - people emulate what they SEE - not what you TELL THEM TO DO. What kind of role model are you REALLY? The most accurate judge of anyone's character is how they behave AT THEIR WORST. THAT is the REAL THEM!

This site has many solitaire games; however, I link it in here to make a point.

In olden times, when I was a kid, we used physical playing cards instead of computers. (I mention this because when I used to speak at the A.A.U.W. events to encourage 7-8th grade girls to study science and math I would suggest that there were far better uses for computers than playing solitaire and suggested they use real cards for that - and they had no idea what I was talking about.)

Anyway, back to the point. If one of the 52 cards in the deck fell behind a desk or dropped to the floor, no matter how many ways or times you tried to win you were S.O.L. (simply out of luck.)

Once you realized that, how many more games would you play with your deck of 51? THAT, my friends, is an excellent analogy for the real life games we've been playing - simply unwinnable.

Some of us are no longer willing to play games where the outcome is obvious because others already hold all the aces. Care to join me in a new world of peace and abundance for all? Many are those who are ready to build it and see how it can be done. You are hereby personally invited to come along with us.

Time to wake up, America. We are continually manipulated by advertising and the media. The most effective method is to introduce fear - the bigger the better - and then provide the solution.

That IS the most effective way to create a business and if you're really good you can use it to repeatedly generate new sales.

The solution is for us to quit buying into the fear and end the cycle.

They had a great idea and have some great peace related logos on this page. Perhaps they'll resurrect the idea and update the links.

Our current government officials have made no secret of their desire to use any means necessary to create continual wars wherever they please. Our current Congress shows little interest in heading off those plans. Are we going to just let them do this?

It is obvious that some can continue to be in denial (see the review by kraycain1971) and many still aren't aware that war is ALWAYS with NO EXCEPTIONS about profits and/or protecting the status quo.

War will cease when enough people refuse to continue to be pawns in the war machine. Civil liberties will be preserved in the United States and elsewhere only when the majority refuse to allow OTHERS to be singled out and stop allowing wrongs to be perpetrated as long as they don't affect them OR - even worse - BENEFIT THEM (like auctions of property seized improperly by the government in the War on __________ fill in the blank).

From the page: " 10/26/07 "Der Spiegel" -- - US Vice President Dick Cheney -- the power behind the throne, the eminence grise, the man with the (very) occasional grandfatherly smile -- is notorious for his propensity for secretiveness and behind-the-scenes manipulation. He's capable of anything, say friends as well as enemies. Given this reputation, it's no big surprise that Cheney has already asked for a backroom analysis of how a war with Iran might begin.

In the scenario concocted by Cheney's strategists, Washington's first step would be to convince Israel to fire missiles at Iran's uranium enrichment plant in Natanz. Tehran would retaliate with its own strike, providing the US with an excuse to attack military targets and nuclear facilities in Iran.

This information was leaked by an official close to the vice president. Cheney himself hasn't denied engaging in such war games. For years, in fact, he's been open about his opinion that an attack on Iran, a member of US President George W. Bush's "Axis of Evil," is inevitable.

Given these not-too-secret designs, Democrats and Republicans alike have wondered what to make of the still mysterious Israeli bombing run in Syria on Sept. 6. Was it part of an existing war plan? A test run, perhaps? For days after the attack, one question dominated conversation at Washington receptions: How great is the risk of war, really? Grandiose Plans, East and West"

Of all the wisdom I have read - and I have been seeking freedom and inner peace for as long as I can remember - if I could recommend only one author and only one book it would be Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now.

This is an excerpt and additional reading is available free on this site. I do recommend the wisdom of many others; however, applying what we learn immediately in our lives is the most important step to take and The Power of Now or Living the Power of Now would be ideal for that.

From the page: "The Greatest Obstacle to Enlightenment
    Enlightenment - what is that?

A beggar had been sitting by the side of a road for over thirty years. One day a stranger walked by. "Spare some change?" mumbled the beggar, mechanically holding out his old baseball cap. "I have nothing to give you," said the stranger. Then he asked: "What's that you are sitting on?" "Nothing," replied the beggar. "Just an old box. I have been sitting on it for as long as I can remember." "Ever looked inside?" asked the stranger. "No," said the beggar. "What's the point? There's nothing in there." "Have a look inside," insisted the stranger. The beggar managed to pry open the lid. With astonishment, disbelief, and elation, he saw that the box was filled with gold.

I am that stranger who has nothing to give you and who is telling you to look inside. Not inside any box, as in the parable, but somewhere even closer: inside yourself.

"But I am not a beggar," I can hear you say.

Those who have not found their true wealth, which is the radiant joy of Being and the deep, unshakable peace that comes with it, are beggars, even if they have great material wealth. They are looking outside for scraps of pleasure or fulfillment, for validation, security, or love, while they have a treasure within that not only includes all those things but is infinitely greater than anything the world can offer."

From the page: "In 1977 the inmate population of California was 19,600. Today it is 159,000--more inmates in its jails and prisons than do France, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the Netherlands combined. After spending $5.2 billion on prison construction over the past fifteen years, California now has not only the largest but also the most overcrowded prison system in the United States. The state Department of Corrections estimates that it will need to spend an additional $6.1 billion on prisons over the next decade just to maintain the current level of overcrowding."

I encourage everyone to become intimately familiar with the information found on this site and others like it. This is the only proven method for obtaining freedom and peace.

From the page: "The problem with the use of violent confrontation strategies is that they quickly escalate to the point where the parties' only concerns are victory, vengeance, and self-defense. In these cases, the moral arguments of people who are being unjustly treated become irrelevant. What matters is that they have used violent strategies and their opponent is, therefore, justified in a violent response. This problem is complicated by the fact that both sides are usually able to argue that the other side started the violence.

Non-violent resistance strategies, such as those pioneered by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King are designed to avoid this trap by absolutely refusing to be drawn into a violent confrontation. Far from being cowardly, this is a strategy that requires tremendous courage, self-control, as well as a willingness to endure pain and sometimes even death. The strength of nonviolence lies in its ability to dramatically reduce the moral legitimacy of those who persist in using violent strategies against non-violent opposition. This loss of legitimacy can, in turn, contribute to coalition-building efforts leading to widespread condemnation of parties using violent strategies and often the imposition of sanctions by the international community. In essence, non-violent resistance is a strategy for countering the power of violent force with the power of the integrative system. Many non-violent techniques ca also be effective when used against illegitimate uses of legal, political, or other types of force.

Key to the success of non-violent approaches is the willingness of the parties to base their resistance upon broadly supported moral principles and a communication strategy which publicizes for all the world to see the immoral and violent behavior of their opponents. People can't be expected to condemn things that they do not know about. The success of these publicity efforts requires the presence of impartial and widely trusted observers, as well as a touch of theater. After all, effective communication strategies have to successfully compete for the prominent coverage on newspapers, television, and radio.

There are literally hundreds of different forms of non-violent resistance and struggle, each with their own advantages and disadvantages."
