What do nuclear power, environmental damage, uranium, U-235, fluoride, The Manhattan Project, and the health of every person, animal, plant, and eco-system on planet Earth have in common? Follow the money.

From the page: "The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History - This scientists' declaration of concern, written after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, does not have the luxury of fiction but instead gives us true insight into to the inner workings of The Manhattan Project (GLC03152). The declaration, titled "Preliminary Statement of the Association of Manhattan District Scientists," emphasizes the need to control atomic weaponry and acknowledge its consequences. Writing during the turbulent times following the Second World War, the scientists warn of the havoc that nuclear weapons could wreak if not handled with extreme care and consideration. They also stress that they felt "a very special responsibility to the people of America ...because of our special awareness of the possibilities of atomic energy for the advance of our civilization or its utter destruction." A heavily edited draft of the statement was found amongst photographs and several accounts in a secretary's personal scrapbook housed at the Gilder Lehrman Collection. This witness, Mildred Goldberg, unknowingly became a key contributor to the development of the atomic bomb as she typed out and organized the scientists' notes. She describes a pleasant work environment and expresses glowing admiration of the men she worked for - including Irving Kaplan, Francis Bonner, Andre J. De Bethune, William Nierenberg and Howard Levi. The statements within the collection are even more significant when one considers that these warnings from the scientists were written during a time when the policies for atomic energy were in their infancy.

Those who are familiar with the history of underground mining know that canaries are used to warn miners of air quality issues because birds are more sensitive than humans. Anyone who has a pet cockatiel knows that fumes from teflon pans can kill it. Teflon contains fluoride. (See fluoridealert.org/f-sources.htm [fluoridealert.org/f-sources.htm] .)

Purebred breeds of horses, dogs, and cats are also more sensitive to toxins in the environment. The purer and better the pedigree, the more they're affected. I had found a site that listed pets that died related to the pet food recall by breed. I'll add that when I find it again. Labrador Retrievers are especially sensitive.

I've known for years that the better you get at breeding exceptional racehorses the more physical symptoms they have such as Azuteria (aka "Tying Up") and breathing-related issues. Many famous horses were given only Mountain Valley Spring water to drink for good reason. (Can you imagine what a hassle it is to keep enough water for a horse on hand and travel with it everywhere?)

I have friends who are seriously into animal rescue. They have brought many animals here and the cats that are too ill to be adoptable are all long-haired white cats. Cats have a reputation for being finicky for a reason - they are too smart to eat poisoned food and some will refuse repeatedly until you offer them something healthier to eat. These particular cats insisted on moving indoors and spend little time outside. They insisted on climbing on my desk and drinking water out of my glass until I made sure that no one ever gave them any other type of water to drink.

The rescue receives donated food - breakage from the major brands and also purchased by contributors from chain stores. We verify that none of it is on the recall list, but the condition of those dogs and cats changes every time the food is changed. There are also four dogs on the property - all rescues. The older chocolate lab either acts normal for her, or gets very lethargic, sleeps too much, and doesn't want to go outside. She doesn't hear you calling her and you have to wake her up. Then she acts normal again.

The older mixed breed male dog will be fine and then will suddenly throw up repeatedly after eating. He has a recurring skin condition that the other older dog has also had at times but not nearly as bad. Both are better since I recently started giving them the same vitamins the Lab has gotten all her life. The Lab and a younger mixed breed puppy receiving special vitamins are rarely affected; however, the very healthy black lab has twice had severe swelling around her face and eyes after being outside for a short time. Her eyes swelled shut the first time and even her head was swollen.

I have also noted that the dispositions of all animals keep changing. The are more aggressive than normal at times. Spayed females act like entire males. The best horses get that "out in space" look and spook at everything.

It appears to me that the bird flu propaganda and the pet food recalls are intended to distract us from being seriously concerned about the birds and pets that are sick. The same ingredients that are in pet foods are in all commercial packaged HUMAN food too.

NOW is the time to take action to protect your health and enhance your immune system. Learn to use muscle testing. Do not trust any packaged food or bottled water. (You can use muscle testing or your senses of taste and smell - or your animals - but better to avoid altogether.) Stop eating "dead" food or killing your live food with overcooking and microwaves.

I don't want to sound like chicken little running around saying the sky is falling. I want you to know I am not crazy and I AM dead serious. We are slowly suffocating, poisoning, and malnourishing ourselves and it won't take much to finish us off at this rate.

From the page: "Killing birds isn't working....cleaning up the environment that is making the birds sick could be the REAL answer.

  • Fluoride: A Statement of Concern - by Paul Connett, PhD

From the page: "1. I have been researching the literature on fluoride for just over three years. I approached this issue with an open mind. If I had any bias when I set out it was that those who were opposed to fluoridation were `crackpots'.

    2. However, the more I have read the more concerned I have become over the dangers posed by fluoride and the very poor science underpinning its supposed efficacy in protecting children's teeth. How we ever allowed such a toxic substance into the drinking water is staggering. Even though fluoride's toxicity is rated higher than lead, the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) maximum contaminant level for lead in water is 15 ppb (parts per billion) whereas the level allowed for fluoride is 4,000 ppb. The recommended level for artificial fluoridation of the drinking water of 1 part per million (1 ppm = 1,000 ppb) was established in 1945, and it hasn't been changed since, even though today we (and our children) are getting fluoride from many other additional sources, including toothpaste, other dental products, mouthwashes, processed food, some vitamin tablets, and beverages.

The benefits to teeth are questionable."

During drought conditions tap water becomes even more unhealthy because more chlorine is added. According to this site, this can contribute to anemia.

Cats seem to be more sensitive to the state of the tap water. Even the outdoor cats are persistently trying to drink water from my glass instead of the water widely available outside and in dishes set out for the dogs in various locations.

The dogs will drink wherever they are, but the cats want filtered water - not tap water. It would be best to provide healthy water for all of our animals too.

From the page: "Chlorine - Used to kill life forms in the water, chlorine is a recognized carcinogen.

We are now entering into a period of increased water shortages. As reservoirs lower, water suppliers add more chlorine. This is because the number of micro-organisms in a reservoir do not decrease as water levels drop. They simply become more concentrated. Dosage will be lifted above recommended maximums due to the necessity of containing disease through micro-organism increases. During our last local drought, I could even smell chlorine gas from outside taps.

Chlorine in drinking water has been linked to increased incidence of bladder and rectal cancers by Harvard University and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Chlorine is also linked to body protein damage. It causes dry skin and hair, and burns the eyes. If you suffer from asthma, sinus problems, allergies, skin rashes or emphysema chlorine in your water may well exacerbate your condition.

Chlorine kills bugs, but it also reacts with the organic matter in water, creating toxic new substances. One such substance, trihalomethane, is far more carcinogenic than chlorine itself.
The US EPA labels Mutagen X

Chlorine byproduct and seen as the 'single largest contributor' to the ability of municipal water to cause genetic mutations.
    Chloramines

In excess of EPA's standard can cause stomach discomfort or anemia."

This is yet one more example of misleading labeling and advertising intended to cash in on the growing awareness and interest in healthy water and food.

There ARE better sources of water for health. Some, such as mountainvalleyspring.com [mountainvalleyspring.com] are available in bottles; however, bottles are another environmental concern.

Possibly the best solution - especially for anyone whose water comes from a community water supply (commonly called "tap" water) - is a new water filtering technology explained at healthywatertreatment.com/SearchResults.asp [healthywatertreatment.com/SearchResults.asp] .

Consumers must be ever-vigilant and much more knowledgeable to notice when labeling is intentionally misleading. I recently warned about meat products being labeled "natural" which is intended to confuse them with range-fed, antibiotic and steroid free products - which these "natural" products ARE NOT. (Their "natural" means they didn't add anything unnatural during processing.)

From the page: "A group called Corporate Accountability International has been pressuring bottled water sellers to curb what it calls misleading marketing practices. The group has criticized PepsiCo over its blue Aquafina label with a mountain logo as perpetuating the misconception that the water comes from spring sources.

Aquafina is the single biggest bottled water brand, and its bottles are now labeled "P.W.S." The new labels will spell out "public water source.""
