Armenian genocide...crime against humanity. Turkey needs to recognize on behalf of the Ottoman perpetrators. We will never, ever forget. Truth and justice will prevail one day.
The first genocide of the 20th century, we will never, EVER, forget. Justice will prevail. "Speak truth to power."
A PBS documentary explaining the genocide of the Armenians by Turkey in 1915-1924. The term genocide was coined for this tragic event, the first genocide of the 20th century. Turkey continues to deny the event as a genocide as they have expunged any evidence and now have opened their archives, of course now that there is no evidence...but there is solid evidence existing in other viable archives throughout the world. Why should the world care, many ask. Because there is always a greater possibility of more genocides when one can be denied. There are several genocides which have taken place and are being carried out right now. Justice will prevail.
The 98th Armenian Genocide commemoration held in Times Square on April 24, 2013. Turkey refuses to recognize the genocide but it is a FACT of history which is never going to go away. Political expediency has favored Turkey's revision of history but JUSTICE and TRUTH will prevail. Justice has been delayed but it will not be denied.
Some Spring break locations that work for any holiday get away to relax.
An interesting conversation with author, Chris Bohjalian. His new book, The Sandcastle Girls, is based on the history of the Armenian genocide woven with a love story as well as spanning several generations of the family involved; then and now. At least that's my understanding, the book is not available until April 16th. I'm looking forward to it. As a descendant of Armenian genocide survivors, it is very relatable, we all have share the same story with different nuances...As those familiar with the Holocaust perpetrated against the Jews, survivors have similar experiences, emotions, legacies, etc. As the first genocide of the 20th century, it is unfortunate that this is become a political football which has allowed the Turks to rewrite their history. They think they can rewrite their history for the rest of the planet; you can twist the truth but eventually the truth comes out.

Bead delight again. Love this video a lot.
A Family Erased...portion of documentary on Armenian genocide.
Elderly sisters who fled their family home to escape the Armenian genocide. For those who are offended by the term, genocide, it was originally coined to define what happened to the Armenians (Greeks too, but they still had a neighboring country so they weren't as numerous in population but suffered the cruelty of this unspeakable crime) in Turkey and was described as the first genocide of the 20th century. If the Turkish government don't like the definition considering it too harsh, let them rest assured that what befell the Armenians then was much harsher. So if the word hurts, let me reassure them that their actions were much more painful than they could ever imagine. We are still here and we survived and we ALWAYS will.
A famous and beloved Armenian poem from long ago.
Sad history in Turkish history which have oppressed Armenians for generations.
Another version of a popular classic which is very pleasing and well performed.
In Buenos Aires (Argentina) an Armenian flash dance, dancing traditional "Kochari" folk dance. April 24, Armenian genocide commemoration. Turkey responsible for first genocide of the 20th century but still denying. T R U T H will not be denied forever, justice has been delayed but will triumph one day.
An ancient and important Armenian sculpture is in the National British Museum and the Armenians would like to have it returned to Armenia where it holds much more significance to be housed in it's country of origin. Petition to get it back is linked.
Well shot video of Armenia for French channel 5. The narrative not necessary to appreciate the beauty but for those who speak French, it offers a lot of background details of what is shown.
The truth sometimes takes a long time to be revealed. Turkey has rewritten their history and has gone to great lengths to erase Armenian presence, they can rename towns, villages, put a minaret on top of a former Armenian church but they can't tout being modern and tolerant without owning up to the reality of the Armenian genocide. Germany owned their responsibility for the Holocaust, the time for Turkey to own up to their past is long overdue.
My hometown...and some wise words form Zen Habits and the old saying is true; you can't go home again.
Experiencing Without Attachment "Accept the moment for what it is. Don't try to turn it into yesterday; that moment's gone. Don't plot about how you can make the moment last forever. Just seep into the moment and enjoy it because it will eventually pass. Nothing is permanent. Fighting that reality will only cause you pain." More on the page. For me the hardest is missing loved ones who have passed or I've lost touch with but were an important part of my life.
