great review on my new remix of Helen Austin, on one of the top music blogs in the world for glitch-related music: Doktor Krank!

this is a remix (hosted on my soundcloud page here and also on bandcamp via the link below) that i did most recently for an independent canadian singer/songwriter named Helen Austin. amazing talented woman, she has been DIY for years, earning a respected and recognized name in the canadian and UK independent artist scene.

this song was a very intentional exploration in fusion. there are *several* styles of electronic music sort of "mashed up" (tho not in the "strict sense".) a "new genre" (arguable term) of electronic music has emerged, that has been referred to as many things, but is most commonly known as "dubstep."

this "genre" has taken influences from so many previous areas of electronic music -from 2-step/uk garage to dub reggae, drum n bass to early 90's hardcore- and transmuted it into something new and exciting. this is as much an act in creation musically as it is philosophically.
(also of note: this song was recorded using a live Roland TB-303 acid synthesizer with the Devilfish modifications. the 303 was recorded in one take over the song on an M-Audo 1010LT input into Ableton Live 8.)

This is the recent interview i did on DJMSP.com about making music, inspirations/influences, and philosophy. the interview was a lot of fun, but the *COMMENTS*.... oh wow. i had the pleasure to basically give a small lesson about some rather interesting aspects of music production, primarily dealing with using sound to induce altered states of awareness and cause physical/psychological/emotional/spiritual changes within the listener.

BIOS manufacturers are making some (possibly) big moves forward after a long time. They have further developed the BIOS software into a new application called "HyperSpace", that can be run as a highly functional (and fast) stand-alone app without the use of a native OS, that can run security checks, email, web brwosing and much more.
