For those in Jacksonville, FL looking for a good martial arts school. Autrelle is a great instructor. His school is far from the common cookie cutter franchise, otherwise known as "McDojos," and lessons range from many different martial arts, though his main focus is in Kali (the Filipino knife and stick art) and Aikido (the Japanese art characterized by throws and joint-locks). While much of the empty-hand and weapons training is geared towards practical defense, he also trains in Aiki-ken (Aikido sword techniques), which in this day and age is obviously more about discipline and form than practicality.

One thing I really appreciate about Autrelle is that even though I stopped paying dues because I can't regularly come to class, he's been nothing but welcoming on the rare occasions that I show up to train. He's also given me study material so I can train on my own. He's a teacher who really cares about his students.
