As a teen, a friend and I saw one of these clouds running east and west, moving very quickly southward through a cloudless summer sky. The air was calm, but, as it passed overhead, the wind picked up to very high speed, so high that when the downpour started, the rain fell more sideways than down, leaving our bodies saturated on one side and totally dry on the other. The rain lasted only a minute or two, and the cloud was visible for only ten minutes from horizon to horizon. Fast moving weather pattern, huh?
When we told others what we saw, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, believed us.
I now have evidence that the cloud formation does exist, but I doubt anyone will believe me still.
