LinkOne of the best euphoric Christmas rushes every year is the drive home after leaving the last day of work early. I cranked up Paul Simon\'s fabulous \"Getting Ready for Christmas Day,\" basking in the beauty and contentment this season bring and began to think about this past year.

I didn\'t blog as much this year, because I quietly struggled personally more than other year of my life with an extended period of time that I can only describe as depression-like. This might be a surprise as I only told 3 humans that I was anything but totally great

The Worst Christmas gift you can give is a lottery ticket.

Unless it wins, then it's something. But not JUST something. It's 47 Million Dollars.

"We all already have everything we need. I don't need your gift and you don't need mine. Let's stop giving gifts."

It's hard not to be tempted to think this sometimes because of the cultural rut we've gotten ourselves into. But I don't believe that stopping giving is the remedy to the ailment. It's merely a visceral reaction. Dig deeper. Giving... is integrally woven into Christmas.

I've watched the Late Show with David Letterman since before I was allowed to. I must of have watched 1000 musical acts on his show... most of them forgettable. Some of them very good. But a few over the years have stuck with me for nearly 20 years. The one thing that plumlines through all of these clips is the fact that Dave is tickled by each of them and how much you can see that he genuinely enjoys it. Here are my Top 5

There were a few years where I was an Anti-Santite. Hey don't judge until you've tried earnestly center your life around genuine service and devotion to a deity. Jesus and Santa. Can't these two Christmas superpowers get along??? As the song say, "Santa KNOWS that we're God's children" right??

LOTS of anger these days being hurled towards a group being labelled as "The 1%". The elite. The wealthy. It's simply the newest manifestation of a very old and ugly sentiment. It's the easy way... and it's wrong.
