Dipak is a 76 year old person from North Fort Myers, Florida, USA

Long time ago when I was working I was a hard worker I was good at what I used to do. After retirement I realized that you need different skills to be popular. But I carry on. My philosophy is anchored to 19th century. Archeology is my favorite as I relish the past. Photography is my passion as I like to record what I see. Some times I feel that I am a time traveller.

  • Republicans sharpen knives for dual debates| Reuters

It is do or die for many candidates like Rick Perry or Huntsman. It would be interesting to watch debate. It's interesting as each of the candidates has their own pit falls. The number one candidate Mitt Romney can almost buy the election with his own money. He keeps changing his position. When he was a Massachusett Governor he was pro choice and his health care provided abortion. Now to court the religious Rt he has become ultra conservative and denounces these rights of women. He always proclaim that he will create jobs but when he was at the helm of 'Bain corp.' he literally gobbled up financially weaker businesses and fired their employees. He personally profited . Is that we need he is no Regan republican.
Newt has too many holes to cover and Santoram is too further right. The others like Ron Paul has views that many of us would not like. So what we do now.

I was raised on Tagore. Today is a new years day. I love all the inspiration poems of Tagore. I was particularly looking for the one that is coming to my mind today. It is not listed there so I have to translate. It goes like it.
' Oh my lord I thought I bend down to my knees and pray to you today to guide me through the coming year.
Then I realized my pranam (prayer) did not reach you. As I was looking up for you and you are not there.
Oh Lord you are now looking for the poorest of the poors. Who have lost everything and all hopes. You are there. You are with the mother who sheds tears as she can't feed her child. You are with father who has lost his job and home and feels hopeless as he can't be the provider any more.
You are there with the starving children and the dying sick who still smiles to family members and say I am OK.
So you are down there some where my prayer can't reach you.
So I shall not ask for anything but give me courage to stand up and help if I may.'
I love it and hope it may touch you some where.

I am amazed how pragmatic was Thomas Jefferson & Madison. 'first amendment did not actually say the term 'Separation of Church & State'. But Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter and brought the term 'Wall of separation between the church & state'.
Jefferson was aware of conflicts between catholics, protestants, Anglicans and did not try to impose a preference for one or the other.
And after more than 2 centuries as we see the result. The best secular country where you have freedom of speech and religions. I would not like to have it any other way.
It seems some of us are becoming little intolerant to different religions and would like to sponsor a state religion.
That will reduce this great country a theocratic state like many in middle east. I hope that never happens.

This poem is sad but tells a story of death of mother not attended by daughter because of political reasons and what she would have told her daughter. This also tells my mind. I remember a poem written by a unknown baul( Folk musicians) in India sounding similar notes urging family not to cry for him as he not dead ,he is every where withe sun rays ,the wind that rustle your hair and you hear his music in the bubbling brooks and death is not the end.
  • The Quest For Immortality - CBS News

This is a very interesting article that I found. It's all known to us that once you are born you will have to die one time or other. It seems in our body there is a master program which dictates that a specific time cells age degeneration starts and disease or cancer does not get you all functions will stop some time,
Things have changed quite a bit now better control of disease and control of malignancy has already prolonged our life. Better nutrition is also a factor. But this is ultimate alchemy to continue to live without aging significantly by manipulating the genes and ability to regenerate organs like heart, kidneys and neurons.
This scientist believes we are not very far from there.
But do we want it. Can I be so selfish that I would not make rooms for the people coming after us the future generations. I don't know thankfully it will not happen in my lifetime. I would succumb to some ailments and say goodbye to the world as now I live in dreams of the past and fear about the future which is unknown. Although I know through my genes part of me will continue through my children and their progeny. Do we need to alter this.
  • Trump's debate: Who's gonna show? | The Upshot - Yahoo! News

Donald Trump is a remarkable character. He tried to enter the Presidential race as republican candidate. And he tried to play on the 'birther issue'for a while to a ridiculous extreme. Donald is better as reality TV actor or a land developer. Now he plans to moderate a republican Presidential debate and threatens to enter race as an independent candidate if a person is nominated not to his liking. Cut it out Donald. You are fired.
