This is a TREMENDOUS resource for folk musicians interested in Appalachian fiddle/banjo tunes. Just in the banjo section alone (see the link at aca-dla.org/dlamusic/dlamusic.html [aca-dla.org/dlamusic/dlamusic.html] ), there are something like 1600 recordings -- not just clips, but whole tunes! I don't remember how I found this, but I've known about it for around a month and a half, and then my friend Sean reminded me of it by mentioning it on his blog at fiddleforbreakfast.blogspot.com [fiddleforbreakfast.blogspot.com] (which I've mentioned before).
Even if you're not into the music, this is an interesting way to get acquainted with mountain folkways of the southeast U.S.
