My heart misses you
I do not yet know the lines of your face
Or the curve of your smile that is meant for me
Or the timber of your voice
Except on quiet, lonely nights
Lying in the dark waiting on you to become
I can hear it whispering love words to my soul
When I lie in that place between sleep and wake
I feel my body curl into yours as it was meant to be.
Your powerful fingers tracing the curve of my shoulder,
Tenderly caressing my arm, pulling me closer to you.
I am safe there in the circle of your embrace,
Sheltered from the demons that haunt my dreams.
We bring peace to each other in our loving.
How is it possible, this longing for what has not yet been ?
Except that somewhere I know you must feel it too.
I ache to bring you home to me.
To breathe you in, filling my spirit with your essence,
To touch your strength with the softness of my hands,
To taste the sweet pleasures of your mouth,
And be intoxicated with the joy of knowing you are mine.
The winds are changing, bringing with them a chill.
I walk along paths of autumn gold and reds
And your footsteps echo mine.
In all the places that are,
I know we are connected
And I wonder...
Are you searching for me too ?
