My name is Jeff Douglas and in 1971 I was sentenced to 35 years hard labor for the crime of lack of education. No, I didn't go to prison; it just felt like it.

I spent 35 years in the construction trades; as a laborer, a carpenter, a framing contractor, and finally as a general contractor.

I worked long, hard hours in blazing heat and freezing cold. And after 35 years I was really no better off financially than when I had started. I had more stuff, but I didn't have more time, I had a few bucks in the bank, but I didn't have more freedom. I made other people wealthy, but I had to keep working just to stay above water.

In the summer of 2006 I faced the startling realization that if I kept doing what I was doing I was never going to be able to stop doing what I was doing but because I was 53 years old I couldn't keep doing what I was doing for much longer! Yikes! I was trapped!

So on that hot June day I knew something had to change or my retirement party and my funeral would be on the same day.

Fortunately, I discovered Nouveau Riche, and the way to create wealth through business ownership and real estate investing.

On the Friday before Labor Day weekend in 2006 I hung my toolbags in my garage where they remain to this day, untouched and unmissed.

I do many different things now to create wealth. From real estate investing to direct sales, to network marketing to referral programs; all of them designed to help me connect to the life of my dreams.

Now my time is truly my time. My financial destiny is in my hands. I have the freedom to create the life I choose. And, God willing, my wife Susan and I will be able to enjoy a long retired life doing what we choose, when we choose.
