  • How to: Build a Hackintosh Mac Mini

Rated Nov 26 2011 1 review apple mini, best hackintosh, best hackintosh motherboard, build a hackintosh, build hackintosh chrislowthian.co.uk

Firstly you might be wondering what a Hackintosh is? Well a Hackintosh is simply a computer built using a select range of hardware which allows it to run the Apple OS X Operating System.

You now might be wondering why you would want to do this? Well the main reason is cost. Apple hardware as great as it is has always been known for its high price tag. This is the reason why some people choose to build a Hackintosh machine, it usually means you get higher specs for less money.

Iâ€m not going to lie and say it will be plain sailing while setting up your Hackintosh but once up and running you shouldnâ€t have any problems as long as you have chosen your hardware well.

I went for a System similar to the 2011 Mac Mini but got a higher spec machine for almost half the price. In my opinion a Hackintosh is great for people like me who simply cannot afford the high prices Apple charge for their hardware.
  • Watch BBC iPlayer over 3G on Android Devices

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review google, bbc, android, bbc iplayer, giffgaff chrislowthian.co.uk

At last someone has modified the Android iPlayer App to run over 3G, this is great for me as I can now use it while on the train or even while on lunch at work.

While this is probably great for allot of people please remember you will be using allot of data when using the app over 3G so I recommend only using if you have an unlimited data plan like giffgaff offers.
  • Need Design Inspiration for your Android or IOS Home Screen?

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review apple, android, clockr, adw launcher, battstatt chrislowthian.co.uk

The great thing about having an Android device is the fact it is so flexible. Its easy to flash new ROMs and try different mods, but what happens when you have found your perfect ROM? Well you need to style it and make it look pretty.

There are many things you can do to change the look and feel of your device including simply changing the Wallpaper or going further and running a different Launcher or various home screen widgets.

Creating a Home Screen that both looks good and is functional on your Android Device can be difficult but now you have a helping hand in the form of MyColorscreen.
  • How to: Setup Multiple Virtual Desktops in Windows 7

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review software, computers, windows, microsoft, multiple desktops chrislowthian.co.uk

OK so most of us know that Apple OSX and Linux have had Multiple Virtual Desktops for years now. I thought about it and just couldnâ€t work out why this feature was not available in Microsoft Windows as standard.

After a little hunting around I did find a lightweight program that does the job. Itâ€s actually a free download on the Microsoft TechNet site called Desktops.

Desktops allows you to organize your applications on up to four virtual desktops. Read email on one, browse the web on the second, and do work in your productivity software on the third, without the clutter of the windows youâ€re not using. After you configure hotkeys for switching desktops, you can create and switch desktops either by clicking on the tray icon to open a desktop preview and switching window, or by using the hotkeys.

  • How to: Upload to Multiple File Hosting Sites

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review file sharing, file hosting, file host, deposit files, fileserve chrislowthian.co.uk

Uploading files to share with others is easy enough, but uploading files to multiple file hosts can be very time consuming.

Multiupload makes it easy to upload to multiple file hosts simultaneously which will save you time and effort. Its also a great way of creating mirror links incase one host deletes your file.

Once your file is uploaded simply share the Multiupload Link which will present the recipient with a list of file hosts your file is available at, they can then choose which host they want to download the file from.
  • How to: Access the Topup TV Engineers Menu on your Box

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review digital tv, freeview, dtr, digital tv tuner, digi box chrislowthian.co.uk

After purchasing a Topup TV Digital Recorder about 9 months ago, I have been researching my box a little and found out the Hard Drive is simply a normal Maxtor Hard Drive which you can find in most computers.

The standard drive in the box was a 160gb drive so this got removed pretty quick and I replaced it with a 250gb Maxtor Hard Drive.

I have also discovered a Secret Engineers Menu. I take it this will be the same for all Topup TV boxes.
  • How to: Use the Amazon App Store on your Android Device...

Rated Nov 16 2011 1 review amazon, android, android market, android app, amazon app store chrislowthian.co.uk

Everyone with an Android Powered Device is probably familiar with the Android Market as it is shipped with most Android Devices.

A few months back Amazon released their own version which is called the Amazon App Store, the downside to Amazonâ€s version is that it is currently only available in the US, well officially that is.

There is actually a few easy steps you can follow to get it working outside the US, for example it actually works fine in the UK with very little effort.

Softmodding your Nintendo Wii is one of the best things you can do to it and will give it a whole new lease of life.

Once you have Softmodded your Wii you can load games from a USB Hard Drive, Play Backup Game Discs and install hundreds of other Homebrew Applications.

The big advantages of loading your games from a USB Hard Drive include faster loading times, no scratched discs and the fact all your games are in one place so you donâ€t have to keep getting up to change discs.

This guide will guide you through all the steps including Installing the Homebrew Channel, Backing up your Wiiâ€s NAND and Installing Priiloader (for brick protection).
