Why Do Cats...? ~ Pawprints and Purrs. Inc.

We just got my cat "Spaz" some catnip and it was a trip (not just for her, but for those of us watching). In our quest to find out why catnip has such an effect, I came across several links. Naturally I couldn't stop at just one, I had to read about eight or ten (I'm obsessive, sue me) and found this particular link to be so nicely comprehensive about general cat behavior that I wanted to recommend it. So, here ya go.
Oh, PS: This wasn't in the article, but I have read that contrary to popular belief, cats don't stick their butts in our faces to be, well, assholes. It's a cat's way of showing submission and respect to the person by displaying the opposite of rivalry-motivated behavior. So the next time a cat gives you the ol' "stink-butt in the face" routine, try to feel flattered. ;-)
