Jumping Day | Barbara Juster Esbensen
Although I'm primarily a technical editor for a software company, this was actually my first assignment for them, back in 2002. It's a flash-driven FREE online children's book that you download one time (after that it remains on your computer).
The story is by an acclaimed children's author and her books are used internationally. It's fully illustrated (I simply programmed the book, the illustrations and sound files into a flash application, but none of the book itself is my work).
This book is geared for early-age readers. It allows you to "turn the pages," have whole pages read aloud or, if you hover over an individual word, you can hear that particular word read aloud. This helps children learn to read and encourages interactivity with the computer (as we all know children are fascinated with computers, and a book on a computer seems less like a "book" than one with printed pages).
The first month it was made public, it was downloaded in more than 20 countries. I thought I'd share this for those of you who are elementary school teachers or who have young children at home.

George Carlin Books

Yes, I agree. My views often did get "skewered" by Carlin (particularly my religious ones), as it was so aptly stated on this site. But even so, I keep an open mind and enjoy the viewpoint of others (usually). Often he nailed a particular topic square on the head, mirroring my very own thoughts, and other times he was just appallingly offensive.
The reason I'm even mentioning this is because a) I recently posted a Carlin quote that I strongly relate to (see below), and b) it's the sort of book that has no plot. Therefore, it makes an awesome bathroom book.
So, although all last week I was too busy even to get online much, I still had to heed the ever-present call of the Porcelain God. To ease my boredom during this tedious biological process, I read Carlin's book whenever I was on the john. But that wasn't the creepy part.
The creepy part is that when I started the book, he was alive. By the time I finished it, he was dead (he died last week at age 71).
That's definitely a first for me. Now, I'll always vaguely associate George Carlin with taking a dump. I actually think he'd be honored.
