Great basic overview on mining and analyzing social graph data, focusing on social media sources. Drew also does a great job in explaining the popular social media networks and how they differ. Drew also provides an overview of open source tools available, and walks through sample analysis using R and Python.
Drew Conway is a PhD student at New York University, Dept. of Politics, an expert on social networks, and a great presenter. Drew also writes for his blog Zero Intelligence Agents, runs the NY R Statistical Programming Meetup
