Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather¢â,¬s house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.

We would not stop for doll or top,

When I was little my father would wake me up every Thanksgiving Day morning singing this song, well the first three stanzas anyway. He would then say, "Look out the window, it is snowing!" I would fall for it when I was little. Partly because I wanted it to be snowing so badly. It usually never was. We would then get dressed and go to my Grandmother & Grandfather's house a few miles away in a small town nearby. We did this every year for as long as I can remember when I was growing up. It is a fond memory. -
