The timing is perfect to visit the entrancing Winter Solstice - Yule Gallery - lovely artwork.
Don't miss, either, the well-footnoted article
The Magical Giftbringers of Yule: St. Lucia & the Holly King, telling the story of the ancient traditions that have been adopted in one form or another into Western holiday feasts.
From the page: "We walk between the worlds during the season of Yuletide, especially during the Thirteen Nights of Solstice. If we keep our senses sharp and our imaginations lively, we may encounter many strange and wonderful beings during this liminal time instead of just that tired old department store Santa.
It has been suggested that the Twelve Days of Christmas were originally thirteen nights, dating from the dark moon nearest the Winter Solstice until the next Full Moon, a period of about thirteen days."

A stunning gallery featuring multiple artists in several media. One thing most of them have in common is that their art is luminous, glowing.

Worth a daily visit for the featured painting. The site is aptly named; there is such magic in these works.
From the page: "ArtMagick is a virtual gallery dedicated to the continual quest of seeking out obscure 19th century artists and long-forgotten paintings showing a "magic world of romance and pictured poetry". The majority of the content in the archive covers the Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist movements."
And the galleries: "ArtMagick Galleries - an eclectic offering of poetry, pictures and original articles. The common thread is a relevance to 19th and early 20th century art and literature."

He deals with the issue of "to hotlink or to copy" by copying, crediting and linking as above. He also has a gallery of "desktop detritus" which he explains: "Desktop Detritus comes around every time I have a desktop that is crammed full of images I've forgotten the origin of. It's kind of like when driftwood piles up on a beach, but instead of trees that have been floating around at sea for years, Desktop Detritus is made up of lonely jpegs who no longer know where they came from. The intention is to give these poor lost images homes once again, and to reunite artists with their creative offspring."
One way to handle it, yes. But how will artists know to find these images on his blog?
