I have been a member of DPChallenge for quite some time. It's gone from being entirely free to pretty much premium only if you want more than bare bones. It is a site which promotes photography skill over Photoshop skill. There are weekly contests for bragging rights, forums, how-to's, profile pages including portfolios. You can have prints made of your or someone else's photos if they're available for print. I highly recommend this site for anyone who wants to gain photography skills or simply wants to enjoy the company of photographers. It's definitely one site that is what you make of it.
