From The Republic by Plato:

"It's quite true, Thrasymachus, to say I learn from others, but it's not true to say I'm not grateful. I am generous with my praise--the only return I can give, as I have no money. You'll see in a moment how ready I am to praise any view I think well-founded, for I'm sure the answer you're going to give me will be that."

  • My reviews will often look like a harsh dialect of L33T!speak on each review page because SU filters out character entities.

  • I'm open to new friends, but we must have something in common, or at least be on the same wavelength as to the creation of SU reviews. It's OK if we swing towards completely opposite sides of political spectrum or any other matter, as long as you feature intelligent commentary (preferably without bias).

Spurious

There’s a rebellion at the level of my bare existence, W. says.—‘You shouldn’t exist. You should never have been born’: that's what my body knows. It’s what I know at some abysmal level. And meanwhile, there I am twitching over the void, a man half-hung, neck broken…’

Most definitely not philosophy qua philosophy; this is more the study of the philosophical student themselves; the struggle to be competent, the struggle to be worthy, and of being participants in a Nietzschean friendship.
Analyzing Political Islam - Monthly Review
Jun 28, 5:32am    (3 reviews)  history, islam, politics  http://monthlyreview.org/090330amin-khan...
… an uncritical embrace of Enlightenment modernity, and appears to conflate political Islamists with the followers of Islam (Muslims in general)—a conflation that is indeed integral to the dominant narrative in Western societies of ‘the Muslim’ as violent, as [an] oppressor of women, and as a medieval aberration against modernity.

The political hive-mind finally produces a narration of a fundamental distinction: Islam as a political leitmotif, and Islam as a culture. To support the people identifying within the later is not to undermine (through historical ignorance) the effort for a new world position.
LENINS TOMB: Acts of violence in Baharestan Square

The attempt to drown the protests in rivers of blood have reportedly led to a ‘massacre’ in Baharestan Square, outside the Iranian majles, today. Tens of thousands of basiji reportedly surrounded hundreds of protesters in this small square, and battered them, then opened fire on them. It's not just basiji—multiple reports indicate that young men without uniforms were given batons and let loose.

I Do Not Care About Social Norms
Taken from the Devotional Poems of Mirabai by Mirabai. Translated by Shreprakash Kurl (1973).

I will fasten the bells of his love to my feet
And dance in front of Girdhar.
Dancing and dancing I will please his eyes;
My love is an ancient one.
My love is the only truth.

I do not care about social norms
Nor do I keep my family’s honour.
I cannot forget, even for a moment,
The beauty of my lover.
I am dyed in Hari’s colour.

LePereDuchesnes blog - StumbleUpon

[For] fuck[’]s sake, what is it about nationalism that turns otherwise decent individuals into raving maniacs?

My cry exactly, of course.

On another subject, however, I do have some other suggested tags: ‘die-in-a-graphite-fire’, ‘delete-yourself’, and ‘irritating-triteness’. I’m collating objectionable content, in the interests of…nothing, really. Call it a post-modern taxonomy on the irritations of Web life, if you must—a title which suits Lepereduchesne, who is damned well ‘not-a-troll’.

As for my own experience, I have now undergone three paradigm shifts in writing technology: typing, word-processing, and text-editing with structural markup. And each left its effects on my prose.
