"Is it not true that inconsiderate use of creation begins where God is marginalized or also where his existence is denied? If the human creature's relationship with the Creator weakens, matter is reduced to egoistic possession, man becomes the `final authority,' and the objective of existence is reduced to a feverish race to possess the most possible."
Maybe he's talking about "Christians" and "Catholics" who practice their religion on Sunday morning only. Certainly atheists have never been powerful enough in the U.S. to exert any influence on environmental policies, in either direction.
But, it has been my experience that Catholics and Christians tend to believe that you can't be a moral person without "God" looking over your shoulder. (Which is why my Mom worries constantly about the state of her children's souls. Now I see where she gets it from.)
Does this mean he's about to exercise HIS vast power to do something about Global Warming??? Like direct his congregation to pass a few laws? I'm waiting. Or, is he just wasting his time on a little blame-fest, much the same as I have just done.
