This from an official SU Rep:
From the Page:
":o) It's not a blog page, it's a Reviews page!
We've consistently responded to such calls with a reminder that StumbleUpon is not blogging software, that there are great blogging apps out there, and that we are not planning to compete in that market.
That some of our members have made such innovative use of the reviews facility as a "pseudo-blog" is admirable, and enjoyable, but that is not how the majority of our members use StumbleUpon.
We're sorry that this upsets some of you, but the focus on Reviews accurately reflects the true purpose of StumbleUpon, and you can fully expect *not* to see the re-appearance of the bl*g word."
ME:
In fact, most of the "reviews" that I read end up less a review of the page than an opportunity to express your opinion about whatever the page is covering... So, maybe it should be the "ReviewsandOpinions" Page...
Or, very often, the pages are used to illustrate and illuminate what the SU member is waxing poetic on... To focus Reviews only, even if that expresses the majority of the StumbleMentality is unnecessarily limiting in my opinion. You say that you are increasing ease of sociability, but why do you have to trade the "Art" of SU for that? We are not asking for More, just to leave the abilities as they have been.
Or maybe I should ask, What market Are you planning to compete in??
The Stumblers that I know treasure SU Because of the ability to blog, share, and easily meet others who want to do the same. There is no other social network out there that combines the Stumbling and Sharing in this way, (that I have found.) You should make room for this uniqueness and value it, not throw it away because the majority doesn't use it. (On the other hand, this does sound pretty American, to me, so I guess I should not be surprised that it comes down to what makes the most money.) I repeat: We are not asking for More, just to leave the abilities as they have been.
