Here's something very dear to my heart. I've worked with a couple of organisations that successfully ran this model. Unfortunately neither of the examples given in the interview are "actual" examples of the "starfish" concept in practice. For the time being, all the "leader free" groups I've checked out, seem to fall victim to the misconception that there is a "vaccum" and we need to the 'institute a (hierarchical) structure'-mentality. You need a "tight-loose" structure more like a bag of oranges or an octopus. Enjoy, ... Will.
