A blog about the deadly dangers faced by Palestinian fishermen. Things will get worse for these forgotten people as Israel attempts to grab the sea off the Gaza strip which has been found to be rich in oil. The Israeli navy prohibits Gazan fishermen from sailing more than three miles from the coast. If fishermen attempt to sail farther, they are pursued, shot at, detained, and often asked to become informers for Israeli intelligence. Under the Oslo peace agreements, Israel is obligated to allow Palestinians to fish as far as 20 nautical miles from Gaza.
The large gunboat has dropped back after spraying the crew with dirty water. The crew dropped the fish back into the sea to protect them and they were not hit. David said that the military men on the gunboat were wearing hazmat suits and masks, an indication of how dangerous the water must be. Everyone on board was hit, but no fish were ruined.
Activists including Cynthia McKinney and Mairead Maguire are in prison in Israel following their attempt to get much needed basic supplies to Palestinians in Gaza. If they'd been seized by the Taliban it would have been front page news; the IDF, well that's different. This is the same IDF which has just been accused by Amnesty International of using Palestinian children and civilians as human shields. Oddly enough, this is not reported either.
"The sea pass into Gaza, which has been closed for over forty years by the Israeli government...we are only the seventh ship to get in to the port of Gaza that tried to break the siege. And as we do that, it's very interesting, we pass the gas fields of Gaza. You know, Gaza has huge gas deposits, which Israel is now beginning to use. So it's very important that there is the issue of who owns the gas in the Gazan Strip. And also farmers and fishermen, who try to go out about twelve miles to fish for their families, are shot up and have been killed by the Israeli navy in that area. "

Millions are displaced in Pakistan, and now villagers are being bombed by drones. I have long suspected that the US Democratic party's unwillingness to prosecute the Bush/Cheney gang for war crimes signalled a wish to keep those options on the table.
"You have heard of Count St. Germain, about whom so many marvelous stories are told. You know that he represented himself as the Wandering Jew, as the discoverer of the elixir of life, of the philosopher's stone, and so forth. Some laughed at him as a charlatan; but Casanova, in his memoirs, says that he was a spy. But be that as it may, St. Germain, in spite of the mystery surrounding him, was a very fascinating person, and was much sought after in the best circles of society. Even to this day my grandmother retains an affectionate recollection of him, and becomes quite angry if anyone speaks disrespectfully of him."
