An-open letter to an Extraordinary Review The Review of Amitava Ray of my Blog Site is `Excellent' , using his own rating. The Reviewer has made an extraordinary assessment of my Biographical Site , including his plea to me to leave SU. The string of words he has weaved is absolutely to the point. Thank You.
His review has woken me from an afternoon siesta. His assessment that only a handful of people read the site is alarming. All along I was under the impression that my Blog Site enjoys a high readership. I may be mistaken. Eye -ball contact and readership is two different things. I might have the viewership not the readership. The Reviwer is absolutely correct in his assessment .
The reviewer is assigned to develop analytical skills. First, the reviewer has to depict the content, regardless of the type of content. In the subsequent narration the goal of the reviewer is to discuss the content and provide analysis of what the Bloger has placed, and deduce if the Bloger managed to reveal the core, or properly achieved the purpose of the Blog. The last thing the reviewer has to do is to speculate on the theme if there is any. The reviewer should also undertake through their own research to discuss the theme, assess the authors ability to express and explore this theme, and provide an opinion of the themed Blog. The determination of the review is to communicate to the viewers/readers mind the ideas and sensations reviewer experienced while researching the content, in this way explaining what exact meaning the Bloger presumed to transmit, or what did the reviewer experienced while during the viewing. The reviewer, then, stands as a viewers/readers, who informs , as an analyst, who makes judgments basing them on own experience, and as the observer from the side by expressing own opinion, desires and expectations.
Making review implies some special skills, as well as obliges with some precise responsibilities. Reviewer has not just to read and scrutinize the text and images, but to realize concealed, implied meaning the Bloger obviously had dropped hints about. Skilled reviewers' explanations make the reader feel this "that is just what I thought" sensation. The reviewer must also state the main points of the subject. While some aspects are less meaningful, others are have to be marked out as prerogative issues.
I think the Review took all this into consideration.
Regarding his suggestion to me, to quit SU. Let me think.
