What a fantastic site! Airline meals!

The meal below is exactly what I was served on my way back from Canada by the lovely (if overly made-up) people at Air Transat. I'll be honest, it was a little disappointing. The pasta was indeed rather bland. Also, what the living God is a "Bean Salad"? They've managed to take something as deadly dull as a salad and make it even more dull!!!

Having said this, I normally adore airline food. I don't know why it is (and I'd be interested to hear if anyone else shares this weird fetish). It's probably because I'm normally very hungry by the time lunch/dinner/midnight snack arrives, but I do get a little quiver of excitement when it arrives.

I think it's probably also the neat little compartments of food. And the variety. For dinner tonight, I had pasta. If I was on a plane, I would probably have: Unidentified meat in unidentifiable coloured sauce, rice, vegetables, pasta salad, bread roll, (what the hell is whipped) butter and a variety of cake. The variety!

Also, I've noticed that when they're microwaving the food (I presume that's what they do), the smell of every airline meal is indistinguishable from the next. It's impossible to tell what you're about to eat from aroma alone...

Also, when my ex-girlfriend was living in Spain, and I went to visit her, Iberia served the nicest profiteroles known to man. I think I drove her nuts by saying "Do you think they'll have them on the plane on the way back?" every five seconds. To this day, about five years later, I still sometimes dream of them. :)
