Somehow I turned 40 without having the slightest idea what happened to the past decade or so...

I work for "the state" (yes tragically boring civil service job.. but those benefits make it worth it) I do DV program stuff which kind of redeems the job most of the time.
I'm a media junkie, most of the time I'm watching the TV, surfing the web, reading something on the side and contemplating what movie to see next while taking dabs at various crafty projects and writing things I don't usually care to share.

I was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome about 5 years ago. After the usual round of doctors telling me I was stressed. It was my dentist who ended up suggesting I see a doctor about it. Along the way I have also been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and MS (fortunately the MS does not seem to be progressing)
I'm having some really painful eye problems right now so I was looking around for some new kinds of "artificial tears" cause mine ain't working and ran across the SSF site again and I wanted to thumb up this site and blog it.
When you have these autoimmune "things" people tend to think you're exaggerating your problems. Often you look "okay" and so many doctors are insulting to women in their 30's and 40's who try to explain the symptoms they're having. I was sick all the time, tired, everything hurt and my teeth were falling out of my head.. I mean geez I was in my 30's and it wasn't like I wasn't acquainted with my toothbrush!!
What I heard was "Oh women your age, trying to do it all, raise the kids, work ...blah blah blah... you're under so much stress, make sure you take some vitamins, eat right.. blah blah blah" When you finally find someone who LISTENS it's such a relief... even if there isn't any cure, or even much in the way of treatment. At least you know you aren't crazy.
